Frequently Asked Questions

Primex Sync wireless clocks work with either three distinctive wireless timekeeping solution technologies: Radio 72 MHz, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth® Low Energy.

Within a Radio 72 MHz solution, wireless time signal is acquired through GPS or a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. The FCC-licensed 72 MHz transmitter then distributes that signal to every clock within your building or campus.

Within a Wi-Fi solution, no new or special Wi-Fi network is required. Time is acquired from an internal or external NTP source, and clocks connect to a facility’s existing Wi-Fi and receive time from the source. Clocks are equipped with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity using the newest and most secure Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 encryption.

Within a Bluetooth® Low Energy solution, a Primex Sync Bridge acquires a timestamp from an internal network or external NTP server and creates a self-contained, low-energy Bluetooth® mesh network that sends synchronized time to each clock within a facility. Primex mesh networks are self-healing, meaning if one clock becomes unsynchronized, other clocks within the network remain synchronized, unlike a typical "daisy chain" system.

A wireless synchronized time solution from Primex Sync features the latest technology and offers a clutter-free, wireless look. Your facility may be better suited for a wireless clock system over a wired solution due to its sheer size, the number of buildings, and a desire to avoid the cost of installing wired infrastructure. Wireless timekeeping is less invasive than a wired solution, which requires cable runs throughout a building.

Plus, with a Primex Sync Radio 72 MHz or a Bluetooth® Low Energy solution, you’ll get a virtual site evaluation guaranteeing synchronized time throughout your entire facility or campus.

A Primex Sync wireless time solution is best for multibuilding campuses or complicated facility footprints requiring a strong wireless signal for widespread synchronized time. Wireless clocks are also right for your facility if you’re looking for easy-to-place clocks without needing a nearby wall outlet for a power source.

No, Primex Sync wireless clocks do not use a master clock. Instead, time signal is acquired through a GPS or Network Time Protocol (NTP) server and sent to wireless digital or wireless analog clocks through Radio 72 MHz, Bluetooth® Low Energy, or Wi-Fi.

A Primex Sync solution is more reliable than a master clock system due to its modern technology and network-based communications, which eliminate the reliance on a single point of failure inherent in a master clock system. Time from a GPS or NTP server is more reliable for maintaining facilitywide synchronized time.
